in the cool of the day
the task is complete
and study can soak
and labor retreat
in the cool of the day
a clip slows to stroll
and hurry is calmed
and parts become whole
in the cool of the day
reflection is met
as sun speckles path
and souls are reset
in the cool of the day
an ease can descend
as pain’s put aside
and wounds at last mend
in the cool of the day
the garden delights
in the shade and low rays
and the finishing light
for tomorrow will bid
it’s own effort and weave
yet too the cool hours
will come to relieve

Beautiful Emily.
Beautiful picture of the relief of the cool of the day – may we live it, remember it –
May we all experience the cool of the day!
Just lovely, Emily
As I read these lines I thought of Heaven where
‘in the cool of the day
an ease can descend
as pain’s put aside
and wounds at last mend’—
but your conclusion speaks of the tomorrow ( on earth) to come…? sometimes my pain doesn’t go away at the cool of the day…nevertheless I am buoyed by the beauty of enjoying that magic time of each day. Thank you for sharing this, Emily.
